The Gastein mountain world in Winter
Skiing, snow boarding, cross country skiing:
5 large skiing areas up to 2650 m above see level with deep snow and embossment pistes, carving trails and freeride parts. From November until Spring, it offers the perfect ski experience for all levels of skiers. Beginners such as professionals here will meet their expections!
Choose between the Schlossalm pistes closed to Bad Hofgastein, the Stubnerkogel-Angertal-Schlossalm interconnected ski areas or Dorfgastein-Großarl area, Graukogel at Bad Gastein or the high Sportgastein above Böckstein ski area. The Gastein ski region is equipted with the most uptodate atrificial snow making facilities, guaranteeing ski fun from November through to April, with plenty of off piste routes to attract also touring skiiers. Pistes 201 km (60km light-, 117 km middle level- and 24 km fastidious pistes.)
Cross Country Skiing
Breathe in the chrystal clear mountain air, and enjoy the wonderful scenery as you ski across country on Gasteins 90km of prepared tracks – the “Remsach loipe” beginning almost closed to our house is only one of them! Cross country skiing fun is also guaranteed until spring in Sport Gastein.
Winter walking
On more than 100 km of prepared walk ways through the glittering scenery of a winter wonderland.
Snow shoe walking
Winter enjoyment of a different style: on marked routes with snow shoes to panoramic points throughout Gasteins mountain world.
Romantic horse drawn sledge trips
in the Prossau (Hohe Tauern Nationalpark), in Angertal or in Dorfgastein you can enjoy this unforgettable, stylish and cosy winter trip though the romantic scenery. A warm drink in one of the age old alpine huts rounds off a perfect trip.
Sledging
Of course, sledgingfans are also well taken care of -5 well prepared sledging runs offer fun for the whole family in Gastein: Bellevue-Alm-Bad Gastein, Aeroplanstadl-Bad Hofgastein Fulseck-Dorfgastein, "Dorfer-Berg" in Dorfgastein and the "Gruberwald" in Dorfgastei.
Ice climbing
Some love the extremes: the Gastein valley offers fantastic natural facilites for ice climbing – also a nerve clincher for those just watching!

The Felsentherme in Bad Gastein gets its name from the natural rock walls in the calm area. Unique pleasure at 1100 m above sea level.

Generationen project Schlossalm NEW
The “Generational Project Schlossalm NEW” foresees construction of a single-cable gondola lift (each cabin with capacity for up to 10 passengers), running in 2 sections to the top of the Schlossalm. The new multifunction valley station – which is being relocated to the far side of the main road – will provide stress-free access to the ski area. In future, it will no longer be necessary to change lifts during the ride up the mountain. Passenger capacity will double from 1400 to 3000 people per hour. [more information]
